Battalion Chief
- Doug Wehmeyer
Battalion Chief Wehmeyer began serving the
citizens of Deerfield Township in October
2001 as a part-time Firefighter/EMT. In
September 2002, he was hired full-time by
Deerfield, promoted to Captain, and charged with the responsibility
of managing the Township’s Fire Inspection, Fire Investigation, and
Community Outreach Programs. He was promoted to Battalion Chief in
December 2008. He currently serves as
the Battalion Chief of Administration and Unit One
Shift Commander.
Battalion Chief Wehmeyer is certified as a Firefighter II,
Paramedic, Fire Safety Inspector, Fire Instructor II, Fire Safety
Inspector Instructor, Fire Officer II, and Hazardous Material
Technician. He is also certified by the NAFI National Certification
Board as a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator. Battalion Chief Wehmeyer
is a graduate of the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg Maryland,
holds an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fire Service
Leadership from Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.
Battalion Chief Wehmeyer is an adjunct
instructor for Bowling Green State University – State Fire School, a
contracted faculty instructor for the Warren County Career Center,
and is a member of the Advisory Board for the Bethesda North
Hospital Paramedic Training Program. He has been honored as the
Deerfield Township Firefighter of the Year in 2003, he received
the Erroll D. Butt Outstanding Investigator Award from the Warren
County Prosecutor’s Office in 2004, and along with Lieutenant Jason
Todd, he received the 2009 National Heroic Firemark Award from the
Liberty Mutual Group.
