Age: This class is for Adults and Youth, 4th grade and up.

 

Description: Tai Chi involves standing (or sitting) and balancing movements that replicate activities of daily living. These are exercises for overall health and well being, increased range of motion (ROM) and flexibility. The benefits are many and include increased alertness and energy, balance, increase in VO2 max, decreased sense of depression, and decrease in blood pressure and heart rate.

 

Instructor Bio: Pat Wahle is an Exercise Specialist at Drake Center in Cincinnati and a Silver Sneakers instructor at FitWorks. She has earned multiple fitness certifications, including National Certification for Tai Chi from the Arthritis Foundation, SCW National Certification for Tai Chi/Qi Gong, Silver Sneakers National Certification, and AFAA Personal Trainer National Certification.

 

Fee:

5-week Session: $15 Resident / $20 Non-Resident

6-week Session: $18 Resident / $23 Non-Resident

Drop-In Fee: $4 per class (Residents and Non-Residents)

 

Registration: All participants are required to have an Programming Agreement on file at the township office. This form only needs to be completed once per programming calendar year (September - August).

PAINT YOUR OWN POTTERY

Description: Bring your family and friends to the Snyder House for our paint-your-own pottery event! Participants can select from a variety of options - cups, bowls, plates, boxes, banks, and more! We provide all the supplies you need to relax and paint your piece. Please give yourself at least 1 hour to paint. Finished pieces will be glazed and fired for you; items will be available for pick up at the Deerfield Township offices within 2 weeks.

 

Instructor Bio: Star Glazers offers a mobile, paint-your-own pottery service. They bring everything required to paint pottery, set up, help participants as needed, and clean up. They take everything to glaze/fire and deliver it upon completion about 2 weeks later. Ann Flynn, owner of Star Glazers, has helped thousands of people of all abilities paint pottery masterpieces of their own. She also teaches after school enrichment classes where students start with clay to make pieces from scratch. She is great at helping you create your artistic vision in the simplest way possible, enabling even the most intimidated artist to paint something beautiful.

 

Fee:

Payment is collected by the instructor at the event. Cash or check only. No credit cards can be accepted.
 

Pieces range in price from $8 to $25.

Studio Fees: $0 Residents / $2 Non-Residents
 

All minor participants must be accompanied by an adult. Adults just attending for supervision or painting the same piece as their child are not charged an additional studio fee.

WOMEN'S SELF-DEFENSE

Age: This class is for Adults and Youth (Females, 14 years and older). A parent/guardian must accompany all minor participants.
 

Description: Join the Warren County Sheriff’s Department to learn vital skills to protect yourself. Topics include ways to avoid being a victim, what to do if you are a victim, and hands-on practice of self-defense techniques. Please wear comfortable clothing and rubber-soled shoes; participants will be actively engaged in role-playing. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

 

Instructor Bio: This class is taught by the Warren County Sheriff Department.

 

Fee: $0 Resident / $5 Non-Resident
 

Registration: All participants are required to have a 2012-2013 Programming Agreement on file at the township office. This form only needs to be completed once per programming calendar year (September - August).
