Regular Meeting
Trustee Romano called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. All members of the Board were present. Also present was Dan Evers, Administrator and Tom Swope, Law Director. The Fiscal Officer, Kristin Spiekerman, was absent with prior notice.
Executive Session
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Speidel to enter executive session to discuss real estate. Motion carried unanimously.

A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Speidel to approve Resolution Number 2006-56 Authorizing the Payment of Invoices from Safe & Sound Systems for $255 and Cincinnati Enquirer for $1,387.89. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by trustee Romano and second by Trustee Speidel to approve Super Blanket Number 20768 and Purchase Orders Number 10436-2, 10560-2, 10574-4, 10594, 10595, 10561 and 10597. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Speidel to approve Warrants Number 48657 through 48773. Motion carried unanimously.
Board Action – New Business
Community Development
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Speidel to continue in progress Case Number 2006-369, Stage 3, Final Detailed Site Plan for Holiday Inn Express on Natorp Boulevard. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Speidel to approve Resolution 2006-57 a Resolution Authorizing the Removal and Destruction of Signs Placed in the Right-of-Way of Public Roads. Motion carried unanimously.
Fire Department
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Speidel to approve the requested $20,000 in funding for annual firefighter physicals and to authorize the Township Administrator to execute a contract for conducting these physicals and all associated reporting with Corporate Health of Ohio at a total cost of approximately $22,400 to be paid with funds from Purchase Orders Number 10588 and 10332. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Speidel to take a five minutes recess. Motion carried unanimously.

Parks
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Speidel to authorize Applied Contracting Corporation to use Skeets Construction as a subcontractor for the installation of doors for the restroom facility at a cost of $9,812. Motion carried unanimously.
Public Works
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Speidel to award the 2006-2007 road salt bid to Cargill, Inc. at a per ton cost of $44.38 and to authorize the Township Administrator to execute any associated contract documents. Motion carried unanimously.
Administration
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Speidel to approve the membership of Deerfield Township in the Economic Development Council of Cincinnati USA Partnership for Economic Development at a cost of $25,000 and to authorize the Township Administrator to execute the membership agreement. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Speidel to approve the renewal of the OTARMA Insurance Package for $6,000,000 coverage at a cost of $105,194 and authorize the Township Administrator to execute all documents necessary to affect the renewal. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Speidel to approve Resolution 2006-58 Authorizing the Granting of Easements to Warren County for Water Main Purposes Across Township Property North of Kings Mill Road and from Kings Mill Road to the Greens of Kings Meadows Subdivision and Declaring an Emergency. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Corey to not request a hearing on the issuance of a liquor permit for Deerfield Township dba Kingswood Golf Course, 4188 Irwin Simpson Road, Deerfield Township. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Corey to not request a hearing on the issuance of a liquor permit for Gilligan Oil Company, 2430 Kings Mill Road, Deerfield Township. Motion carried unanimously.

Approval of Minutes
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Speidel to approve the June 20, 2006 meeting minutes as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Consent Agenda
Fire Department
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Speidel to approve FF/PM Ehling attending the DHS Weapons of Mass Destruction course in Anniston, Alabama, on September 10 through 15 with no course registration, transportation or housing costs. Motion carried unanimously.
Human Resources
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Speidel to adjust the hourly rate of pay for the following fire fighters to the new rates effective August 13, 2006.
Bryant Davis- hourly rate $13.76, OIC hourly rate $14.51
Chris Elliott- hourly rate $12.58, OIC hourly rate $13.33
Tom Jackson- hourly rate $13.33, OIC hourly rate $14.08
Matt Powers- hourly rate $10.56, OIC hourly rate $11.31
Steve Ritchey- hourly rate $10.25, OIC hourly rate $11
Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Speidel to hire FF/Paramedic Joe Hempel part-time at an hourly rate of $11 with a corresponding OIC hourly rate of $11.75 effective immediately, contingent upon successful completion of the background check and drug screening. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Speidel to hire Leroy Hall as a temporary employee in the position of grounds worker/mechanic at Kingswood Golf Course at a rate of $12 per hour plus PERS retirement pension pickup contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug test and favorable background check. His start date will be August 21, 2006. Motion carried unanimously.
Reports
Trustee Corey reported he has scheduled a meeting with Warren County Commissioner Pat South to review the septic sewer issue Plainview-Plainfield area at Butler Warren.
Dan Evers announced the Trustee work session will be August 25, 2006.
