Regular Session

Trustee Corey called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. All members of the Board were present. Also present were Kristin Spiekerman, the Fiscal Officer, Dan Evers, Administrator and Tom Swope, Law Director.

 

Executive Session

A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to enter executive session. Motion carried unanimously.

 

A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to return to regular session. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Trustee Romano led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Public Comments, Presentations

There were not any public comments or presentations.

 

Items to be Removed from the Consent Agenda

Trustee Speidel requested that Removal from Probationary Status (Cemetery) be removed from the Consent Agenda.

 

Fiscal Officer

A motion by Trustee Speidel and second by Trustee Corey to approve Purchase Orders numbered 10881, 10884, 10885 and Super Blankets numbered 20797-2, 20810-2, 20820-2, 20821-3 and 20838-5. Motion carried unanimously.

 

A motion by Trustee Speidel and second by Trustee Corey to approve Warrants numbered 50963 through 51046. Motion carried unanimously.

 

A motion by Trustee Speidel and second by Trustee Corey to approve a TIF payment of $1,500 to The Bank of New York, N.A. from the TIF General Reserve Fund for administrative fees. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Board Action – New Business

Community Development

A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Corey to adopt Resolution 2007-36 A Resolution Providing For and Authorizing the Removal of the High Grass and Weeds Located on 5900 Deer Run Drive, Dispensing with the Second Reading and Declaring an Emergency. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Item Removed from the Consent Agenda

Human Resources

A motion by Trustee Speidel and second by Trustee Corey to remove Brent Osborne from probationary status and appoint him as a permanent cemetery supervisor. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Fire Department

A motion by Trustee Speidel and second by Trustee Romano to approve Resolution 2007-37 “Surplus of Equipment and Declaring an Emergency” and Authorizing the Township Administrator to Execute All Documentation Necessary to Complete the Project. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Per Trustee Corey’s request, Chief Bromen spoke about the activities of Mason/Deerfield Township Auxiliary.

 

Public Works

A motion by Trustee Speidel and second by Trustee Romano to accept for public maintenance the streets in The Reserves at Heritage Pointe, Sections 1, 2 and 3. Motion carried unanimously.

 

A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Speidel to accept the bid for salt from Cargill at a per ton cost of $44.71. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Administration

A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Speidel to accept the quote for preventative maintenance for the HVAC equipment from DeBra-Kuempel for fall maintenance at $1,326 and a motion to accept the 2008 maintenance agreement for quarterly service at an annual cost of $3,854 and authorize the Township Administrator to sign the agreement. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Public Works

A motion by Trustee Speidel and second by Trustee Corey to accept a quote from Industrial Pressure Washer for a new Karcher pressure washer at a cost of $4,775 (with trade-in). Motion carried unanimously.

 

A motion by Trustee Speidel and second by Trustee Corey to approve the purchase of an overhead dispensing system from Snow Equipment Sales at a cost of $7,559. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Approval of Minutes

A motion by Trustee Speidel and second by Trustee Corey to approve meeting minutes of July 27, 2007 work session. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Consent Agenda

Human Resources

A motion by Trustee Speidel and second by Trustee Corey to approve the attendance of Captain Doug Wehmeyer, FF Jason Todd, FF Chris Posega and FF Brian Bentley at the Fire Officer I & II Course sponsored by the Warren County Career Center on September-December 2007 at a cost of $2,000 with no additional expenses. Motion carried unanimously.

 

A motion by Trustee Speidel and second by Trustee Corey to approve the attendance of firefighter Josh Giles at the 2007 Bowling Green/Hamilton County Fire School on September 17 through 19, 2007 at a cost of $250 with no additional expenses. Motion carried unanimously.

 

A motion by Trustee Speidel and second by Trustee Corey to approve the attendance of firefighter Ken Lynch for the 2007-2008 Tri-Health Paramedic Training Course at a cost of $3,750 with no additional costs. Motion carried unanimously.

 

A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously.
