Regular Meeting
February 19, 2008
Trustee Corey called the meeting to order at 6:26 p.m. Trustee Romano and Trustee Patterson was present. Also present were Kristin Spiekerman, the Fiscal Officer, Dan Evers, Administrator and Tom Swope, Law Director.
Pastor Lowe of Faith Church gave the invocation.
Trustee Patterson led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Public Comment/Presentation
The Board recognized Ursaline Academy student Lisa Guay for scoring a perfect score on her ACT test.
Warren County Engineer Neil Tunison presented the Western Row/I-71 & 741 Interchange Studies Report.
There was no public comment.

A motion by Trustee Patterson and second by Trustee Corey to approve Resolution 2008-16 A Resolution Directing Payment of Township Expenses Dispensing with the Second Reading and Declaring an Emergency. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Patterson to approve Purchase Orders #10980-2, 10981-2, 11060 through 11065, 11076, 11069, 11070, 11073, 11074, 11077 through 11080 and Warrants #51961, 52022 through 52076 excluding #52068, 52078 through 52115. Motion carried unanimously.
Board Action – New Business
Community Development
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to approve the following appointments to the Warren County Regional Planning Commission effective April 1, 2008. As representatives: Dan Corey, Chris Romano, Pete Patterson, Jim Klatte, John Richardson and Lois McKnight. As alternates: Brian Leary, Scott Evans, Robert Giesse, Don de Reynier, James Rinehart and Hayfaa Wadih. Motion carried unanimously.
Parks
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to accept the proposal (for footers and concrete pads for two shelters at Cottell Park) from RE Middleton at a cost of $12,090 and authorize the Township Administrator to execute the agreement and all documentation necessary to complete the project. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to reject the Cottell Park/Snyder House Remodel & Renovation bid offered by McGill Smith Punshon, Inc. Motion carried unanimously.
Fire Department
A motion by Trustee Patterson and second by Trustee Corey to approve this request to enter into agreement with Medicount Management to continue billing services for the 2008 year using the proposed new rate schedule and to authorize Township Administrator Dan Evers to execute same. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Patterson and second by Trustee Romano to approve this request for the purchase of two new front line Horton Medic Units. Motion carried unanimously.
Administration
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to authorize the purchase of fourteen (14) Haenni WL101 Wheel Load weighing devices at a cost of approximately $50,641.50. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to take a five minute break. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to return to regular session. Motion carried unanimously.
Public Works
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Patterson to accept the proposal (emergency repair of Davis Road) from Charles H. Hamilton Company for $54,466; authorize the Township Administrator to sign any applicable documents; and motion to approve the emergency funding in the amount of $59,912.60. Motion carried unanimously.
Administration
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Corey to approve a donation of $35,000 to Warren County Parks with determination of funds to be used by Township Administrator, Dan Evers. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Corey to not request a hearing on the application for a D51 liquor permit for Bravo Development Inc. DBA Bravo Cucina Italiana, 5045 Deerfield Blvd., Deerfield Township, Mason, OH 45040. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Romano and second by Trustee Corey to not request a hearing on the application for a D1 liquor permit for Delicio LLC DBA Qdoba Mexican Grill, 5035 Deerfield Blvd. and Patio Only, Deerfield Township, Mason, OH 45040. Motion carried unanimously.
Consent Agenda
Human Resources
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Patterson to approve the attendance of Hayfaa Wadih and Lois McKnight at the 2008 American Planning Association National Conference to be held April 26 through May 1, 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada at a cost of $3,250 plus meals and incidentals. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Patterson to approve this request for the above named members to participate in this year’s Fire Department Instructor’s Conference. We have cut costs and saved the Township money by not approving room and board. Members acknowledge and accept the fact the Township will only provide for the cost of each requested class. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Patterson to approve the request for FF/Paramedic John Redford to attend the Firefighter 1 Transition Class being held at Warren County Career Center. Motion carried unanimously.
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Patterson to authorize the overnight accommodations of Trustee Dan Corey at the Ohio Township Association annual Winter Conference at a cost of approximately $400. Motion carried unanimously.
Executive Session
A motion by Trustee Corey and second by Trustee Romano to enter Executive Session to discuss pending and threatened litigation and real estate acquisition. Motion carried unanimously.
