Deerfield Township, (pop. 40,525) Warren County, OH, located in Southwest Ohio, seeks experienced urban planning professionals with a proven track record of providing a high level of customer service and technical skills as candidates for its next Planning Manager.
The Planning Manager serves as a member of the township’s Planning & Zoning Department and reports to the Planning & Zoning Director. The ideal candidate will have a diverse background in regional/local planning with a comprehensive understanding of planning and zoning principles, interpret zoning regulations, effectively communicate with the general public, developers, and other constituents. The candidate must have the ability to conduct site inspections and enforce the rules and regulations of the Deerfield Township Zoning Resolution. The position requires the ability to handle multiple complex work assignments simultaneously. Individuals must demonstrate the ability to review and assess development plans, subdivision plats, sign details, prepare routine/special reports, and have strong writing and oral presentation skills. This position also serves as staff representative to the Township Zoning Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals. The staff representative will review and process cases, coordinate with other government agencies, and maintain accurate information records.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Land Use Planning, or a closely related field is required. Must have a minimum of three years of experience in government or public agency; an advanced degree relative to the planning field may substitute for one year of the required experience. AICP Certification preferred. Knowledge of GIS and ESRI systems and other mapping tools; Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Community Improvement Corporation Board (Volunteer Position)
The Deerfield Township Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) is accepting applications to serve as a member of the CIC Board. Interested residents or employees of businesses located within the township who wish to serve are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and should submit an Application for Appointment, resume and letter stating why they wish to volunteer on the board. The open positions are for three year terms.
The CIC was created by the Deerfield Township Board of Trustees to manage economic development activities. Its purpose is advancing, encouraging, and promoting the industrial, economic, commercial, and civic development of a community.
The CIC Board is comprised of seven board members. The Board meets on an as needed basis. Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus Pandemic, the Board has meet virtually, however, meetings traditionally take place in the Deerfield Township Trustee Meeting Room, 4900 Parkway Drive, Suite 180, Mason, Ohio 45040.
