Lebanon, Ohio (Monday, March 18, 2024) – A bridge rehabilitation project on Irwin Simpson Road over Interstate 71 in Warren County will get under way next month, and a 60-day closure of the route will be in effect.

Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be rehabilitating the bridge on Irwin Simpson Road that is situated between Fields Ertel and Socialville-Fosters roads and carries traffic over I-71. In part, construction will include replacing the parapets, expansion joints and vandal fence and painting beam ends of the structure.

Work is scheduled to begin Monday, April 1, and Irwin Simpson Road will be closed through the end of May. While the route is closed, motorists will be detoured by way of Duke Boulevard, Innovation Way, Socialville Foster Road and Columbia Road. Intermittent lane and shoulder restrictions will also be in place on I-71 at the overpass structure.

The Prus Construction Company was awarded a contract for approximately $4.2 million to complete the project that also included rehabilitating bridges on Stubbs Mill and Waynesville roads, and all work is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2024.
