Supporting Seniors Through COVID

October 15, 2020
United Way of Warren County

The Coronavirus crisis is affecting almost everyone’s routines, transportation, and some “non-essential” services. This means that the usual support and contacts that many vulnerable elderly adults have with others may be diminished.

In response, Deerfield Township is partnering with the United Way of Warren County Volunteer Resource Center and Warren County Community Services in the “Supporting Seniors Through COVID” program. This program asks members of the community to purchase from the list of specific items to create care packages that can be delivered to older adults throughout Warren County who continue to shelter in place during this time.

Items include:

  • Hand sanitizer
  • Hand soap (liquid pump)
  • Bar soap
  • Shampoo
  • Tooth paste
  • Toilet paper
  • Tissues
  • Paper Towels
  • Deodorant (male or female)
  • Disinfectant wipes
  • Dish soap
  • Ensure protein drinks
  • Adult incontinence garments
  • Hard candies (lifesavers, butterscotches etc.)
  • Activity books (word search/adult coloring books/colored pencils, etc.)

Community members are invited to help while maintaining social distancing by shopping for and donating items from the list. By providing at least three items from the list you can make a huge difference to the quality of life for a local senior.

After purchasing, simply put sealed/unopened items in a tied shopping bag and deposit it in the community bin to be distributed to those in need in our community. Our community bin is located at Deerfield Township Fire Station 57 (3435 US-22).
